Sonata mix cosmos seeds - cosmos bipinnatus
Mixed blooms of white, light pink and red, on a more bushy, shorter plant than other varieties. Depending on the flower colour will print as yellow/green, purple, blue and pink.
Good for borders, bouquets and attracting butterflies.
Cosmos are not a traditional dye plant, and only have moderate colourfastness, so they are not recommended for an heirloom item such as a quilt, but are a great choice for experimenting with flower pounding.
Begin indoors 4 weeks before last frost, or direct seed after frost danger has passed and soil is warm. Several sewings can give you continuous blooms. Plant in a sunny location. Grows well in regular soil, needs little care. Can grow to up to a metre tall, so place behind shorter plants. Dead head often to make way for new blooms.
