Osage (maclura pomifera) is a deciduous tree native to the southern United States, and now growing throughout the US and southern Canada.

Osage produces shades of warm yellow and can be shifted to green with an iron mordant, or with an indigo overdye.  This dye is a sawdust made from the heartwood of the tree and can be used at a wof of 15-25%.

Osage is not a substantive dye and requires the use of a mordant.  Read more about mordants in our FAQ's, and shop for them here.
