Logwood (Haematoxylum campechianum) is a bushy tropical tree from Central America the wood of which can be used to create shades ranging from purple to bluish grey and even black when used in high concentration and/or with an iron mordant.
These wood chips can be used at 10-15% wof for a medium depth of shade.
Logwood is not a substantive dye and requires the use of a mordant. Read more about mordants in our FAQ's, and shop for them here.
