Ideal for folks who have already tried indigo dyeing but would like to expand their knowledge and try another type of vat. The iron (ferrous) vat produces strong blues which lean more towards navy, and it is possible to build up to a darker shade of blue with fewer dips than some other types of vats (such as fructose).
Indigo can be used to dye any natural fibres, but not synthetics. However, the iron vat specifically is not suitable for use on protein fibres such as wool or silk, as it can harshen the fibres. Best used on cotton, linen and other cellulose fibres.
==============================
This bundle contains the pre-measured ingredients to create one organic iron indigo vat, with which you can dye quite a bit of fibre - how much depends on a few things, including how dark you want the blue to be, and what fibres you use.
The vat can remain active for several weeks, depending on how much you use it.
Bundle contents:
50g indigofera tinctoria powder, extracted from the plant
100g ferrous sulfate powder (iron)
150g pickling lime (calx)
